Much like a boxing match, you will be judged by your technique, speed and believability. No one is a super hero here, you cannot toss a spear and simultaneously jump 15 feet left.
If you feel you are loosing a non mortal challenge to your opponent, and want to give up, you may spill a drop of your own blood into the sand and apologize, promising never to bother your opponent again and forfeit the agreed upon booty.
If you are loosing a mortal challenge and wish to quit, kneel and hope your body will be acceptable for use as a sex slave or labor slave to your new Owner. They can accept your submission, kill you or simply take your booty and leave you in the sand. A Warrior has in his codes the requirement to either accept a slave or kill it. Not everyone you face will be of the Warriors, and not all Warriors keep the codes.
1. The foremost rule is the 3 post rule. You cannot kill anyone in a single post. It takes three consecutive un-defended posts to inflict any damage of kill anyone.
2. You can only do two acts with each post. You may block and strike or block twice but not strike twice.
3. You must counter each post sent to you before they post twice more, or it will be deemed as having happened and you must acknowledge it in your next post, taking the damage on your body and limiting yourself by that damage. If you do not acknowledge it, the judge will announce it and you will limit yourself accordingly.
4. You may not describe injury to your opponent or post things like "and then you fell and died".
5. If you throw a weapon, you loose it and must retrieve it to use it again. Remember its an 80 foot square, so you will not be capable of getting to the other side in under 3 posts. I expect your opponent will try to stop you or even take your discarded weapon, assuming they can carry it and their own also.
6. Getting booted by your server is no excuse. Its the same as loosing consciousness or fainting. Log back on quickly and see what was done to you in your absence. *S* Honorable folks will wait, but not all Goreans are honorable and you may wake up dead.
7. The decisions of the judge is final and irreversible both during and after the battle.
8. There is a minimum number of words posted during a battle scene post. Min of 5 words per attack post, no minimum per defensive post.
Be warned that if you agree to mortal combat and loose by a fatal injury, your handle will be permanently banned from the Sand Pit and The Jewel of Gleaming Thassa and all that you posses will become property of the victor. THIS INCLUDES ALL TAVERN SLAVES YOU OWN, EVEN IF THEY DID NOT AGREE TO STAND AS BOOTY. A TAVERN SLAVE THAT REFUSES TO HONOR THEIR NEW OWNER’S RIGHTS WILL HAVE THEIR HANDLE BANNED ALONG WITH THE SLAIN OWNER’S. Be careful therefore when accepting challenges to the death, you may be affecting more feelings than just your own.
